Dear Friends and Neighbors,

The Mazama Community Club is back and open for rentals! If you’re thinking of hosting a celebration and need a small hall, please consider renting the clubhouse. Details and forms can be found at www.mazamacommunityclub.com. Rentals are one source of income to pay the bills such as insurance (over $4K), utilities, tree removal, taxes, and snowplowing to name a few.

Another source of income is the World Famous Mazama Pancake Breakfast which will be held on Saturday, May 28th. If you’re interested, in volunteering for this event, email [email protected] and someone will contact you. There is indoor and outdoor seating under the new Picnic Shelter or Red’s Shed.

Speaking of which, many thanks to Claire Bunney for shepherding this idea to reality as a result of the generous bequest from Red McComb. Flash Clark and some community volunteers finished the structure and people were sitting under it during the winter! Check out Red’s Shed at the MCC.

Contributing to the cost of a seasonal dumpster located between the MCC property and the Methow Trails kiosk is another MCC community effort. Sometimes visitors leave the area without their trash and this is one way local businesses and the MCC are working to keep Mazama looking nice. The MCC also contributed to the fund to place the Mazama rock and sign at the junction. Many thanks to Jim Gregg, local businesses, and the Mazama Advisory Committee for spearheading this beautification effort.

The Fire District 6 Mazama Fire Hydrant project headed by volunteer firefighter Alan Fahnestock has reached its fundraising goal to place a high volume pump and water hydrant at the well near Mazama Pines Rd. FD6 is following legal requirements to get the pump installed as soon as possible, hopefully before fire season.

Our little red schoolhouse turned 100 and we held a Centennial Celebration on July 7th. A building this old needs care and volunteers are so appreciated. Ken Young will again keep the lawn looking nice. If you want to help, our Annual Clean Up Day will be Saturday, May 14th from 9am-12pm. Bring your gloves, garden and cleaning tools and smiling faces!

There are many new residents in Mazama and we’d love for them to become MCC members. We offer pickle ball and basketball courts, play equipment, and space for community gatherings. The Volunteer Board is available to answer questions and open to ideas for new events!

With gratitude for your membership and financial support,
